Private Lessons Information
We offer in-home lessons from our Private Studio located in Mobile, Alabama on Hollinger's Island to anyone interested in learning Classical and or Electrical finger-style or pick in all types of genres like: folk, country, rock, blues, pop, Latin, Spanish, etc. or any other style of playing on either a nylon string guitar or electrical guitar that interests the Student.
We are also offering to local private schools the opportunity to have the beauty of Guitar playing taught in their school during school hours of operation to those students who prefer to learn in that environment.
Our Private Studio is approximately 360 square feet equipped with amplifiers, drum machines, digital and traditional recording machines, music stands, foot stools, seating for both student and parent, compact disc, printer for sheet music, our own mini-music store with supplies for the every day student, etc. We can also order an product the student requests.
*Remember I can also teach in your home if that works out with your schedule and time constraints but keep in mind that a fuel surcharge will be in place based on current market rates and the distance traveled.
We offer to the parent or guardian free INTERNET access for surfing during lessons or just finalizing some business activities.
One of the requirements of our Lesson plans is that not only do you learn to play by ear and use tab fluently but more importantly sight reading music scores, Chord reading and design, scale production and design, the number system, advanced finger-style techniques, improvising on the score, play-along, slide, etc. All said and done a student will dictate the direction that he or she pursues in their studies after completing the fundamentals of playing. Above Everything lessons are designed to be fun as well as a positive learning experience.
FYI: I teach from a wealth books and use proven methods for quick advancement for the youngest to the oldest of students. To let you in on a secret, all the so-called teachers that tell you there is a quick way to learning...It's just not true. Practice and study are the only things that will progress you to a high level of playing. You must also use a teacher that knows how to teach and what to look for in incorrect playing styles. I am a teacher of the Guitar and this is what I know how to do, so hire a teacher and not just some fly by night player who hangs out in the local pubs. See Lessons Information page.
In-Home Lessons are 30 minutes once per week for a month totaling four lessons in a month. Remember lessons can be configured for 1 hour lesson twice a month as needed. Anytime a month has five weeks the fifth week it is considered a student resting period or make up lesson with prior approval. We prorate lessons to fit vacation and sick time as is explained on the first night of the first lesson. All dues are paid in advance for the month ahead after the first lesson unless it is the middle of a month, then it will be prorated.
Rates are 60.00 per month for four lessons per month including materials for first two months. If a Student has access to email then all materials are free of charge since we can email the lesson plans each week.
I can teach from the age of 3-4 years old and upward to as old as those willing to learn. Parents can accompany children in the studio during lessons and we offer amenities for parents while waiting.
